Remarkable Achievement from the Coral Sandy Ridge
At the conclusion of Day 2 at the 2024 NIAA Track & Field State Championships on Saturday, May 18 at Carson High School in Carson City, 11th grader, Kaleb E. won the 3A State Championship in Boys Long Jump after jumping 22’5,” becoming the first ever Track & Field State Champion in school history. Kaleb's winning jump placed Kaleb 21” ahead of the 2nd place finisher
Kaleb is the 2nd NIAA State Champion in Coral Academy Athletics this 2023-24 Academic Year after the Boys Bowling team reclaimed their 3A State Championship title in February.
Later that afternoon, Kaleb took home his 2nd medal of the day (Coral’s 3rd of the weekend and 4th ever in Track & Field) after finishing 4th overall in the 200m Dash - 0.01 seconds ahead of the 5th placed finisher. Kaleb qualified for the State Championships after finishing as the 3A Southern Region Champion in Long Jump and 2nd in 3A South for the 200m Dash.
On Day 1 of the State Championships, 9th Grader, Teegan L., finished 4th overall in the Girls 3A 1600m (1 mile) at the 2024 NIAA Track & Field State Championships in Carson City. At the conclusion of Day 1, Teegan's performance garnered only the 2nd ever Coral Track State Championship medal (2022 Boys 4x800m Relay team of Dylan D., Vito D., Brayden M., and Aaron R. 3rd place finish), making Teegan the first ever individual medalist in Track & Field in Coral history. On Day 2, Teegan finished 7th overall in the 800m and 6th in the 3200m (2 mile) after qualifying for State Championships 2nd in 3A South for the 1600m, 2nd in 3A South in the 3200, and 4th in 3A South in the 800m.
Senior Wendy D. concluded a landmark career after finishing the year as the 3A Southern Regional Champion in 100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, and Long Jump. Wendy finished the State Championships 6th in 100m Hurdles, 5th in 300m Hurdles, and 6th in Long Jump.
A remarkable achievement from the Coral Track & Field team to cap off a wonderful year.
